We marked longstanding industry servant Kevin (Doc) Docherty’s retirement in October at a function at the Wigram Air Base. Coinciding with the Line Mechanics and Jointers’ Competition it was great to have all members of the Hamer Power Engineering team in town to celebrate Doc’s 50 years in the electricity and electrical industries with his family.

Hamer General Manager Geoffrey Sullivan remarked that Kevin has been a big part of expanding the Hamer offering.

“He has taken us past the sale of tools, line taps and fuse gear to build a reputation for solutions. These involve cabinets and bar work made to measure and fitted with the brands we support,” said Geoffrey.

“And the way he goes about it is simple - he sticks to the basics. Understanding customer need and applying the products available – and in fact some that are not available - to come up with a solution, and charge a fair price. And he always gets back to the customer.

“Kevin doesn’t let software get in the way and is famous at Hamer for his designs on the top pocket note paper - always signed off by the customer, priced, booked and ordered.”
